This intensive 1-day course, in partnership with the Hair Guild of Ireland, at the Blow Academy is designed for hairstyling professionals with at least 1 year of experience who wish to upskill and delve into the exciting world of period hairstyling. Under the guidance of Lorraine Glynn, a leading figure in the industry, participants will have the unique opportunity to learn authentic and stylistic techniques from different decades of the 20th century.

From the elegant hairstyles of the 1900´s to the rebellious looks of the 1980s, this comprehensive course provides a thorough insight into the trends and techniques of hairstyling that have shaped the history of fashion and entertainment.

  • Lorraine Glynn

    Lorraine Glynn is an IFTA (Irish Film & Television Academy) and BAFTA-winning hair designer.

    Glynn began her apprenticeship in the late 70s, working in top salons in Dublin and London.

    Moving to train in the film industry in the mid-90s.

    Recent completed films and TV series.

    'Small Things Like These' with Cillian Murphy. 'The Great'. Seasons 1,2 & 3 and 'Maleficent 2'. Personal hair designer to "Elle Fanning' and 'Marlowe'.

    Lorraine won her first IFTA in 2007 for her work (with makeup artist Lynn Johnston) on transforming Cillian Murphy’s character into drag queen Kitten in ‘Breakfast on Pluto’.

    Since then, she has won three more IFTA’s (2010’s ‘The Take’, 2012’s ‘Albert Nobbs’ and 2014’s ‘Byzantium’) and a BAFTA TV Award for her work on ‘My Boy Jack’, the true story of author Rudyard Kipling.

    She has also worked on Sofia Coppola’s high-budget period piece ‘Marie Antoinette’, ‘Tristan and Isolde’ and the fantasy epic mini-series ‘Neverland’.

    Lorraine was the hair designer on Oscar-nominated ‘Brooklyn’, ‘The Secret Scripture’ and ‘The Professor and the Madman’.

  • To secure your place at Blow Academy, a deposit is required. Please note that deposits are non-refundable. The full course fee must be paid no later than two weeks before the course start date. Once paid, course fees are non-refundable. However, if you are unable to attend, a credit note will be issued, allowing you to reschedule your booking for a future date.  

    If Blow Academy cancels your course, you will be offered the choice of a full refund or the option to reschedule for another available date.  

    Minimum Enrollment Requirement
    The course requires a minimum number of enrolled students to proceed.  

    Course Postponement
    If the minimum enrollment requirement is not met, the course may be postponed to a later date. Students will be notified of any schedule changes as soon as possible.

    Blow Academy reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the course due to unforeseen circumstances or factors beyond our control. In such cases, every effort will be made to accommodate students' schedules and preferences.

Who will teach the course?
