Join us at Blow Academy in collaboration with Blow and ITEC for the ITEC Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing Traineeship Program starting on September 15th, 2025 . This program perfectly fits individuals looking to combine practical experience with academic learning. Our traineeship is a dynamic blend of 2 day paid work placement in our salon and 3 days of academic learning, designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in Hair Industry.

6 months Program

What is included?

10 hours of paid work over 2 days for 6 months following the academic calendar. Schedule agreed with salon manager. Paid work days Thursday, Friday or Saturday.
3 days of classes Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday from 10am - 4pm at Blow Academy, UCD Belfield, Dublin

To be awarded this qualification, learners must successfully achieve the following assessments:
- Theory examination (MCQ)
- Synoptic practical examination
- Service Portfolio

What will you learn?

Learners must achieve all seven mandatory units, which include:

Advise and consult with clients
Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
Cut ladies hair
Style and finish hair
Set and dress hair
Colour and lighten hair
Fulfil salon reception duties
This qualification offers a wider range of optional units of which one must be achieved, these include:
- Perm and neutralise hair
- Hair relaxing treatments and techniques
- Plait and twist hair
- Temporarily attach hair to enhance a style

ITEC Diploma Level 2 in Hairdressing
Blow Academy Certificate
To be awarded this qualification, learners must successfully achieve the following assessments:
- Theory examination (MCQ)
- Synoptic practical examination
- Service Portfolio Grading

How long is the course?

Breakdown: 6 months in salon and classes. This course aligns with the academic calendar.
You will earn as you learn salary for two days each week during a 6 month work placement at Blow Salon.
Here’s the weekly schedule:
Monday: Blow Academy UCD, 10 AM - 4 PM
Tuesday: Blow Academy UCD, 10 AM - 4 PM
Wednesday: Blow Academy UCD, 10 AM - 4 PM
Thursday: In-salon, 5 hours (Hrs agreed during the interview)
Friday: In-salon, 5 hours (Hrs agreed during the interview)
Saturday: In-salon, 5 hours (Hrs agreed during the interview)

How much does it cost?

The total of €4,995 includes the in class training and ITEC qualifications. Payment plans can be arranged. An interview is required to verify that you meet the entry criteria.
Instalments: 3 payments of €1,498 each
- First payment due to secure your place
- Second payment due November 3rd 2025
- Third payment due February 2nd 2026
- All fees must be settled prior to the exams; otherwise, you will not be permitted to take them.
Exam fees are paid directly to ITEC.
Kit and uniform provided.
